The government of Egypt utilizes an electronic visa issuance system. The e-Visa is an electronic authorization from the government to enter into and travel within Egypt. It is the equivalent to a visa, but no stamp or label is placed in your passport. It is also an alternative to visas issued at the ports of entry.
The e-Visa applies to Tourists only at the moment. Business travelers still need to apply for standard paper visas.

The PDF link to download your e-Visa will be emailed to you. You must print the e-Visa and take it with you with the original passport on your trip to Egypt. Immigration control officers at ports of entry can verify your e-Visa in their system. They will then stamp the visa into your passport.
