Do I need a visa to enter Japan with a USA passport?

Follow

A visa is not required for U.S. passport holders who wish to stay in Japan up to 90 days for the purpose of non-paid activities* such as sightseeing, visiting relatives or friends, business meetings, amateur participation in athletic meetings, attending a conference, etc.

Please note that U.S. citizens require visas when traveling to Japan for news/media related activities, attending depositions taken by U.S. Consul, or for U.S. Federal Government employees on official business or transit to/from official mission.
